Naked Eye is a research consultancy specialising in video ethnography. We are a group of social anthropologists and documentary filmmakers. We help clients design engaging products and services, develop resonant communications and bring behavioural programmes to life by understanding people’s latent needs, behaviours and motivations.

Our clients range across a number of sectors including: FMCG brands, health and pharmaceutical, third sector, Government, telecommunications.

Recent activities include:

  • A longitudinal study for a major pharmaceutical company across six different countries observing the impact of chemotherapy treatment on individuals and their families
  • Working with the Joseph Rowntree Foundation the team carried out research and created a film for JRF’s website on the impact of globalisation on local communities and the experience of people in poverty
  • Working with BBC documentary filmmakers, we were commissioned by Astellas Pharma to take a close look at the experiences of people living with over active bladder
  • Identified opportunities for the growth of a new brand of chocolate for a Mars Snack Foods by revealing adults latent needs, behaviours and desires at home
  • A study for NESTA evaluating the innovation process of three of Design London’s start up businesses
  • Supporting a team of marketing and communication strategists and NHS programme directors as part of a major service review for Birmingham East and North PCT. The work explored how service-users, identified in their segmentation, experienced services currently provided.
