"Are we in Vegas Yet?!" BetVictor Launches Casino Creative

Wednesday, 25 September 2013

Today sees the launch of the last of three new TV adverts for BetVictor. Where the first two adverts focused on BetVictor’s football offering, the latest one promotes BetVictor’s expanding online casino, which now boasts over 600 games, including live dealer versions of roulette, blackjack and baccarat.

The spot, entitled ‘Baggage’, is a light-hearted illustration of the campaign strategy that ‘Nothing should get in your way’ when placing a bet. This time excitable casino goer Maurice, played by Paul Kaye of ‘Dennis Pennis’ fame, goes further than ever before in his misguided attempt to get to Las Vegas with gentleman bookmaker and BetVictor chairman Victor Chandler.

BetVictor continues to create adverts with a premium feel with ‘Zoolander’ director Russell Bates, resulting in technically ambitious work with a high production value. In the spot, we open on Victor in a hotel room with a night time New York cityscape in the background. He tips a bellhop who rests Victor’s luggage at the foot of his bed before leaving. As Victor moves to unpack his bag, Maurice’s head pops through the zip and asks Victor manically “Are we in Vegas yet?!” With a sigh of despair at the ‘baggage’ he wasn’t quite expecting, Victor explains that they are in New York, prompting Maurice to burst free from the bottom of the bag to stretch his legs. Exasperated, Victor tells Maurice he doesn’t need to go to Las Vegas to play casino games and shows him an iPad with the BetVictor casino site on screen. Metaphorically and literally jumping for joy, Maurice completes his transformation into half bag half man by springing up and running off screen with a maniacal cackle.

Julian Douglas, Vice Chairman at VCCP, said: “After the great reception that BetVictor’s football adverts Pogo and Train have had, it’s exciting for us to be bringing the same levels of production value and humour to BetVictor’s casino offering, allowing us to move forward with a premium yet value driven message in the key areas of BetVictor’s expanding business.”

Karl Riley, Marketing Director at BetVictor commented: “Baggage is the third TV ad to be released in a busy autumn period for us here at BetVictor and it is aimed specifically at the online casino audience. The theme again taps into Maurice’s comic pursuit of Victor and his entrance in this particular ad will no doubt be as surprising to the audience as it was to Victor himself! The guys at VCCP have again come up trumps and I believe they have produced an ad that will grab our audience’s attention and make it laugh out loud en masse in the months ahead.”
