The Hon Richard Alston

Richard Alston was Australian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom from February 2005 until March 2008. From March 1996 to October 2003 he was Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts in the Australian Federal Parliament . He served as a Senator for Victoria from 1986 until 2004 and was Deputy Leader in the Senate for more than ten years. Since 2004 he has been an Adjunct Professor of Information Technology at Bond University Queensland. He has served on the boards of listed Australian companies Hansen Technologies, UCMS, and was Chairman of Broadcasting Services Australia. Prior to entering Parliament, he practised as a barrister. He is presently a member of the International Advisory Board of London based hedge fund CQS.
